The convoy was small, the pickup was on time, and the silence at the top of the first dune was worth the trip on its own. Dinner felt like a private restaurant that happened to be standing in the desert.
We asked for a quiet corner for a proposal and they simply made it happen — a separate table, away from the camp, timed to the last of the light. Nobody hovered. She said yes.
Travelling with two children under ten, I expected compromise. Instead the driver adjusted the dunes to their nerve, the camp had things for them to do, and the buffet handled every request we’d sent ahead.
The overnight is the one to book. The evening everyone gets — then everyone leaves, and the desert goes properly dark and properly quiet. Sunrise with coffee on the dune was the best hour of our holiday.
